AccessPark Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information AccessPark collects, how it is used, who it may be shared with, and the choices and rights users have.

Last updated: 23 June 2026
Important launch note

This is a practical draft for AccessPark and should be reviewed before public launch. Add the final legal business name, registered address, support email, retention periods, production hosting details, and any required data protection contact details before publishing.

1. Who We Are

AccessPark is a parking information service designed to help people find, save, submit, and report accessible parking spaces. In this policy, "AccessPark", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the AccessPark app and website.

Before public launch, this section should be updated with the official legal business name, registered address, support email, and any required data protection contact details.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use AccessPark, we may collect:

  • account information, such as email address, display name, account number, user ID, role, and sign-in details;
  • profile changes, such as an updated display name;
  • saved parking spaces, favourites, nicknames, and related bay details;
  • parking space submissions, including location coordinates, street or place name, number of spaces, surface type, bay width, restrictions, notes, status, and review history;
  • problem reports, including the bay reported, report type, notes, reporter ID, reporter display name, report status, and admin handling details;
  • optional location information from your browser when you use current-location features;
  • technical information needed to run and protect the service, such as device, browser, IP address, request logs, error logs, and security events.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage accounts;
  • let users save favourite parking spaces and manage profile details;
  • receive, review, approve, reject, publish, and manage parking space submissions;
  • receive and manage problem reports about parking spaces;
  • show accessible parking results, map locations, and directions links;
  • protect AccessPark from abuse, spam, fraud, security issues, and unauthorised admin access;
  • debug, maintain, improve, and measure the reliability of the app;
  • meet legal, regulatory, and safety responsibilities.

4. Lawful Bases

Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on different lawful bases depending on the purpose. This may include contract, where processing is needed to provide account and app features; legitimate interests, where we operate, improve, secure, and moderate AccessPark; consent, where you choose to grant browser location permission or opt into optional features; and legal obligation, where we must keep or share information to comply with the law.

5. Location Information

AccessPark can use your browser location if you choose "use my current location" or a similar feature. Your browser should ask for permission first. Location may be used to search nearby bays or fill latitude and longitude fields for a submission.

We do not need your live location to create an account. If you submit a space using coordinates, those coordinates become part of the submission and may be reviewed, stored, and published as parking information.

6. Local Preview Storage

If Supabase is not configured, AccessPark may run in local preview mode. In that mode, local accounts, sessions, favourites, display names, account numbers, and local submissions are stored in your browser storage on the device you are using.

Local preview storage is for testing. It is not a production account system. You can clear it by clearing site data in your browser.

7. User Submissions And Public Content

Parking space submissions and approved parking information are intended to help other users. After admin review, details such as place name, coordinates, number of spaces, surface type, bay width, restrictions, and notes may be published in the app.

Do not include personal information about yourself or other people in public submission fields unless it is necessary and you have the right to share it.

8. Who We Share Information With

We may share information with:

  • Supabase, for authentication, database, user profile, submission, report, and account data storage;
  • hosting, deployment, monitoring, security, and infrastructure providers used to run AccessPark;
  • map, geocoding, directions, and location service providers used to show maps and find places;
  • email or notification providers if account, submission, support, or admin notifications are enabled;
  • professional advisers, legal authorities, regulators, or law enforcement where necessary.

Third-party services may process technical information such as IP address, browser details, request data, and approximate location derived from network information.

9. International Transfers

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, AccessPark should use appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections. This section must be checked against the final production provider list.

10. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account data is normally kept while the account exists. Saved spaces are kept until removed or the account is deleted. Submissions and reports may be kept while they remain useful for moderation, safety, audit, and parking information quality.

Before public launch, AccessPark should define exact retention periods for account records, submissions, reports, admin review history, support messages, and technical logs.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service is completely secure, so users should use a strong password, keep account details private, and tell us if they believe their account has been accessed without permission.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live and which data protection law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a privacy request, use the contact details provided on the AccessPark website, app store listing, or official support channel.

13. Complaints

We would like the chance to resolve privacy concerns first. If UK data protection law applies, users also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

14. Children

AccessPark is not designed for children. If we learn that a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, we may delete or restrict the account and related information.

15. Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy as AccessPark changes. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to make users aware of them.

16. Related Terms

This policy should be read together with the AccessPark Terms of Service.
